Farm Shop Shipping & Mail Clerk

Position Summary & Overview

The Shipping & Mail Clerk is responsible for the accurate fulfillment of all e-commerce and shop orders; receives and stocks inventory, maintains shipping and stockroom areas and sorts and distributes incoming mail and packages to each department.

Position Type: Part-time, non exempt

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Fulfill online and shop orders; prepare items for shipments
  • Maintains, cleans, and organizes shipping, stockroom, and delivery area
  • Inspects shipments and deliveries for damages or defects; records discrepancies or damages and notifies supervisor
  • Learn and use Shopify Point of Sale system and Shipstation software in an expedient manner
  • Traces lost shipments and claims of lost shipments; initiates proof of delivery documents
  • Observes safety rules and ensures and maintains a safe and orderly environment
  • Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information
  • Performs any other job-related duties as assigned

Essential job functions 

  • Prints e-commerce orders and accurately picks and prepares merchandise to be shipped; packs items to ensure safe delivery
  • Weighs packages and utilizes shipping software to determine most economical and efficient shipping method
  • Prints and affixes shipping labels to packages
  • Unpacks, sorts, counts, and stocks received inventory
  • Practices proper stock rotation at all times
  • Notifies supervisor of orders that cannot be filled or are delayed
  • Receives incoming mail and packages; accurately sorts and delivers mail across property
  • Maintains current knowledge of UPS, FedEx and USPS postage regulations and restrictions


  • High School diploma/GED
  • One year shipping/receiving work experience
  • Knowledge of Shipstation software preferred but not necessary
  • Ability to be detail oriented, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate time management skills
  • Must interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and people with disabilities
  • Able to clearly communicate with customers, vendors, and team members
  • Must be able sit, stand, bend, squat, reach and walk 8 to 10 hours a day
  • Able to grasp, lift, carry. Must be able to lift 75 lbs. in short intervals throughout the day
  • Must be willing to work a varied schedule to include evenings, weekends, and holidays
