Public Areas Attendant / Maintenance Technician

Under direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager and Public Areas Supervisor, you will perform the overall custodial functions and cleanliness of Los Poblanos Historical Inn and Organic Farm and related facilities (such as Campo, Spa, Yurt, 4th St. offices, etc.), as well as respond to Emergency and Non-emergency work requests throughout property, including guest rooms in accordance with management directives. Public Areas/Maintenance Tech must promote a positive image of the property and must be friendly, honest, and pleasant.

Position type: Full-time, non-exempt; Thursdays through Mondays from 3:00 pm until 11:00 pm.

Duties & Responsibilities

Greet customers, patrons or visitors
Perform manual service or maintenance tasks
Read technical information needed to perform maintenance or repairs
Clean equipment, parts, or tools to repair or maintain them in good working order
Clean facilities or sites
Confer with organizational members to accomplish work activities
Monitor building premises to ensure occupant or visitor safety
Troubleshoot equipment or systems operation problems; test mechanical equipment to ensure proper functioning; locate damage, defects or wear; replace worn, damaged or defective mechanical parts
Install electrical components, equipment or systems; repair electrical circuits or wiring
Inventory materials or equipment
Provide information to coworkers
Inventory materials or equipment
Clean facilities or sites; replenish supplies
Clean furniture or fixtures
Clean equipment or supplies
Clean building walls or flooring
Move furniture
Dispose of trash or waste materials
Store items

Essential Job Functions

Act as an ambassador and representative for the property, the Village of Los Ranchos and Albuquerque
Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards and anticipate and address guests’ service needs
Respond rapidly to requests for emergency and non-emergency assistance in a professional and hospitable manner
Work closely with other department managers to ensure maintenance requests throughout the property are met
Complete report work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc., to maintain the inn and keep the product quality standard
Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis (e.g., “room care”)
Assist in checking electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, televisions, lighting systems and make minor repairs and/or replacement
Assist in checking and making routine repairs and assist on major repairs of all inn equipment including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, HVAC, hand and power tools and general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipelines, toilets and sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment
Keep maintenance logs and report on daily activities
Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction
Complete daily, weekly and quarterly cleaning checklists for all public areas
Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, thresholds, base boards and window frames
Vacuum and spot clean carpeting, upholstery and drapery
Cleans ceiling fixtures, through the proper and safe use of a ladder
Clean and shine all interior/exterior glass and metal surfaces
Empty all materials from trash receptacles; replace trash bags if used; remove trash to dumpster and recycle boxes as required
Clean public/employee restrooms and stock with supplies
Complete all restocking and cleaning duties by performing opening and closing side work as instructed
Responsible for custodial equipment and cleaning of equipment
Reports equipment repair requirements to supervisor
Attend all departmental meetings in person in order to enhance communication and gain knowledge of products, service and facility
Follow all safety guidelines to ensure safety and protection of self, employees and guests
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as necessary or assigned

Requirements

Solid understanding of plumbing and electrical systems, carpentry, landscaping and mechanical operations
Solid understanding of facilities machines and equipment
Housekeeping, Custodial, Deep Cleaning experience
Friendly, goal-oriented and outgoing with great people skills
Excellent oral communication skills and positive interpersonal skills required
Energy, enthusiasm, excellent customer service, decision making, and problem-solving skills
Appearance must always be clean and professional with a cheerful and courteous demeanor
Ability to think under pressure while maintaining positive outlook and attention to detail
Self-motivated and personally driven for excellence in all areas of the job
Able to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
Must be able sit, stand, bend, squat, reach and walk 8 to 10 hours a day
Able to lift 50 pounds and being on feet for long periods of time
Able to work in extremes of weather and temperatures

Preferred

Ability to speak Spanish is a plus
Interest in sustainability, food and New Mexico culture
Interest in organic farming, agriculture, art and architecture is a plus
