Discover the Magic of a New Mexico Destination Wedding

New Mexico might just be one of the best hidden gems for hosting a destination wedding. While it may not typically grace the list of top places like Tuscany, Costa Rica, and Napa Valley, it's exactly that sense of the unexpected that makes a wedding in the Land of Enchantment stand out. At Los Poblanos, we often hear from guests who are astonished by the beauty of Albuquerque and wish they had extended their stay. Couples who choose to celebrate their wedding with us have the unique pleasure of sharing those moments of surprise and awe with their guests and wedding party. The memories created amidst stunning views at the perfect venue during these destination wedding weekends will last a lifetime.

The Allure of Los Poblanos

At Los Poblanos, we revel in the sense of discovery that comes with sharing our corner of New Mexico with wedding couples and their guests. There's a reason why this is one of the best destination wedding locations. Imagine walking down a garden path and stumbling upon a row of lilac trees in full bloom or spotting a migratory crane in the fields on an autumn morning. Picture making a grand entrance in front of your guests stepping inside the Grand Ballroom at La Quinta, with a 6-foot fireplace roaring. It has all the makings for a dream wedding.

Our team works closely with each wedding couple to craft an experience for their guests that shares the delights of Los Poblanos over the course of a weekend. We understand that the experience is more than the wedding ceremony itself; it begins the moment each guest arrives in New Mexico. Planning a destination wedding requires a different approach, and we are here to help every step of the way.

Choosing the Perfect Season

The first step to planning a destination wedding in New Mexico is to consider which season you want to experience. While there is no bad time of year for a wedding at Los Poblanos, each season presents unique qualities to consider.

Spring: Temperatures in Albuquerque range from the 50s to the 70s. Daffodils bloom in February, and by mid-March, our flowering trees are in full bloom. April and May are peak seasons for blooming peonies and roses in the historic Greely Gardens, with temperatures reaching the mid-80s; a gorgeous setting for an outdoor ceremony.

Summer: June focuses on lavender, with our iconic fields budding in June and blooming in July. While summer months can be hot, with highs over 100, we handle the heat with saltwater pool hangs and afternoon siestas. High desert mornings and evenings are perfect for bike rides and cocktails on the patio, or making use of our stylish indoor spaces.

Fall: As temperatures cool off in October, fall foliage bursts into color with giant golden cottonwoods against bright blue skies. Our farm in the Rio Grande Valley offers a bountiful fall harvest, with plates full of fresh produce from August through November.

Winter: December in New Mexico is rich with holiday traditions, from luminarias glowing atop adobe buildings to red chile posole warming us up. Winter in New Mexico means clear blue skies, migrating sandhill cranes soaring overhead, and fireplaces crackling around our property. With daytime temperatures often reaching the mid-50s, our winter is a welcome reprieve from colder winters in the North and a beautiful time to gather and celebrate.

Planning the Logistics

Once you've picked your favorite season, the next step in planning your event is to work out logistics. A destination wedding venue’s location can make all the difference. Los Poblanos is located a 15-minute drive from the Albuquerque airport, and we offer complimentary shuttle service to make getting here a breeze. Whether you enlist the help of your own wedding planner or not, our team can help with everything from tips on obtaining a marriage license in New Mexico to sharing our preferred vendors and advice about booking local photographers, florists, musicians, and officiants. While wedding planning far from home can sometimes feel overwhelming, we have the experience and resources to make it smooth sailing throughout the entire process.

Creating an Unforgettable Experience

Once you have settled on a date and worked out the big-picture logistics, the fun part begins. Our team will help plan an itinerary to create a memorable experience for you and your guests. We love working with couples to ensure every special detail is taken care of. We can arrange thoughtful welcome gift bags in each room for your guests' arrival, collaborate with our award-winning bar team to create a signature botanical cocktail for the rehearsal dinner, or an equally delicious mocktail for the post-wedding brunch.

We will gladly curate private activities for the group, such as yoga classes in the Wellness Yurt, history tours of La Quinta, or wine tastings in the Library Bar. The beauty of a destination wedding is the precious time you can share with your loved ones in a one-of-a-kind wedding location in New Mexico, and we are here to ensure that not a moment goes to waste.
