A look back on an amazing year
2019 at Los Poblanos
As the property slows down after the holiday season, we’re taking time to look back on 2019. The year was filled with many exciting changes at Los Poblanos, from the addition of chickens and sheep to the farm to improving benefits for our growing number of employees. With a complex business, we are constantly challenging ourselves to innovate and be good stewards of the land. While we certainly faced hurdles and setbacks, we are thrilled to share some of our accomplishments from the year as we rolled up our sleeves to further our mission of sustainable agriculture, hospitality, historic preservation and community.
Lavender season is approaching
Celebrate our favorite time of the year
As the weather gets warmer and days get longer, our lovely lavender plants awaken again for another summer season. We look forward to the fields turning purple all year long, and eagerly watch as the plants begin to spike. In fact, lavender season makes us downright giddy here on the farm. And we couldn't be more excited to share all that we have to offer during this fabulous season.
Relax & restore
Our rooms are outfitted for sweet dreams and ultimate relaxation, from our own lavender spa amenities to carefully selected robes, bed linens and towels.
New Product Release: Organic Lavender Facial Toner
Los Poblanos is thrilled to introduce the newest member of their lavender apothecary line – Organic Lavender Facial Toner. We live, work and play in the high desert – and so does our skin. Organic Lavender Facial Toner provides a refreshing, hydrating experience to combat arid desert conditions, and relaxes with its calming lavender fragrance. Pair it with Los Poblanos Lavender Skin Care Oil and consider your morning skincare routine complete.
Los Poblanos Launches at Hotel Emma in San Antonio
In an ongoing partnership with Hotel Emma, San Antonio's leading luxury boutique hotel located at the historic Pearl, we're thrilled to announce our lavender apothecary line will now be the bath amenity available in all of their rooms. Guests at Hotel Emma will be able to indulge in Los Poblanos bath amenities such as bath salts and lavender lotion.
"We are thrilled to join forces with such an amazing family-owned company," says Bill Petrella, President and General Manager at Hotel Emma. "Los Poblanos organic products and overall group are an excellent fit with our brand. We are committed to enhancing our guests' experience, and we hope they will love these new bath amenities as much as we do."
Lavender season is upon us
Lavender in the Village Festival is just around the corner! Find us there on July 7 from 9-5, across the street from the farm at the Agri-Nature Center. Come say hello at our Farm Shop tent and Education tent. The Farm Shop will be selling our artisanal lavender products, lemonade and doughnuts. Swing by the Education tent for talks from our incredible team, including Executive Chef Jonathan Perno, Garden and Landscape Manager Wes Brittenham and more.
Please note that Los Poblanos will be closed to the public for a private event the day of the festival, with exceptions for guests with Inn or Campo reservations.
The season of lavender
Help us kick off our very favorite season of the year by joining us for any of these exciting upcoming events: Walks with Wes (farm tours with our amazing Garden and Landscape Manager and team), art and architecture tours, one of our many lavender distillations and educational experiences, yoga classes on our serene, beautiful property, lavender cocktails at Campo, a delectable lavender long table dinner or wine dinner and so much more. See you soon!
Spring Field Notes
This past winter was a mild one, even by temperate New Mexico standards, and it looks as though spring will be no different. With temperatures already in the high 70s, the farm is in full-bloom mode and we couldn’t be happier about it. All across the property, stone fruit trees, daffodils, hyacinth, and irises are showing off their colors, proving that there's nothing quite as magical as springtime on the farm.
Festive Farm Shop
There’s an air of excitement on the farm as the winter holidays grow ever nearer. Trees sparkling with lights and mantels hung with garlands are stirring our festive spirits. But nowhere is quite as holly-jolly as over at the Farm Shop, where our third greenhouse room has just opened to the public. Packed to the rafters with tree trimmings, unique little stocking stuffers, and authentic folk art decor, it’s the place to be for holiday cheer. Stop by the Farm Shop where our wonderful staff is waiting to help you pick out the perfect gifts for everyone on you list (yourself included!).
Los Poblanos Herbal Bug Repellent
We are beyond thrilled to introduce the newest addition to our line of hand-crafted, small batch Los Poblanos products. Meet our new Herbal Bug Repellent! Formulated with a base of lavender hydrosol, distilled from our own plants, and a blend of essential oils that are known to repel bugs. Our farmers and gardeners have been using lavender oil to deter pesky biting bugs in the fields for years, so when it came time to craft our own bug repellent it seemed only natural to use their tried and true method. And wouldn’t you know, it really works! Before releasing it to the world, the LP farmers field tested (quite literally) the formula and came back at the end of the day, unbitten and smelling great.
