Introducing Campo’s New Spring Menus
Campo, meaning field in Spanish, reflects our dedication to organic farming, both in our own fields and within our local food shed. As our talented culinary team imagines new menus and sources ingredients, the underlying mission is to stay close to home. At home, this means our culinary and farm teams work together each season and create plans for growing heirloom, organic produce. This partnership supports our regenerative agricultural model and brings freshly harvested ingredients to your plate.

Create Los Poblanos cocktails at home when you can't be at the farm
Our love for lavender began with our artisanal spa collection, but it certainly didn’t end there. Campo’s culinary team found it to be extraordinary in everything from baked goods to chicken dishes, but it got even more exciting when we introduced it into our cocktail program.
What Regenerative Farming Means at Los Poblanos
Here at Los Poblanos, we are proud to practice regenerative agriculture. Not only do we grow crops without chemicals, we also take action to give back to the land so that we leave the earth better than we found it. Our dedicated farm team works hard to incorporate five healthy soil principles in our daily practices, aiming to set in motion a cycle of healthier soil, healthier plants, healthier people and healthier ecosystems.

Farm Journal: Spring Fever
Spring Fever
As cold days recede, spring fever is in full swing on the farm. Every year, our farm team collaborates closely with our culinary, mixology and product teams, exchanging ideas and identifying goals for the upcoming months ahead. These thoughtful conversations help determine plans for the field layout and crop rotation, giving the farm team a clear plan for the new season. Currently, trays of seedlings line the tables in the greenhouse as artichokes, kale, onions and peppers begin to sprout and grow, waiting their turn to be nestled into the fields. Carrot, beet and turnip seeds will soon be planted directly into the cool soil. Small harvests of herbs and greens begin to come from the hoop house, too.

Farm Journal: Preparing for Spring
As winter begins to recede, our farmers have plenty to do across our 25-acre property as we anticipate spring's glorious arrival. Each year, the time comes to assess our beloved rows of lavender. Once they've lived about ten years, it is time to remove and replace the oldest lavender plants, as the seasonal harvest and shearing takes its toll.
A Los Poblanos love story
This Los Poblanos love story begins in the most unusual of places, far from our farm in the Rio Grande Valley, in the hallowed halls of the United States Capitol. As the 71st Congress was being called into session in March of 1929, two freshman members in the House of Representatives met for the first time: Albert Gallatin Simms of New Mexico and Ruth Hanna McCormick of Illinois.

Gustave Baumann’s whimsical holiday tradition
Of the many New Mexican artists who worked on Los Poblanos Ranch and La Quinta in the 1930s, Gustave Baumann was certainly one of the most esteemed. The beautifully carved wood doors and fireplace mantle at La Quinta are the work of a master at the top of his game. What is perhaps less well known about Baumann, however, is that he had a wonderful sense of humor. And nowhere was this more apparent than in Baumann's annual holiday card tradition.

With Sabah's beautiful handcrafted shoes and our artisan lavender and Farm Foods collections, it's a wonderful opportunity to peruse lovely gifts that were made by hand. Sabah's airy retail space is located at 663 Haight St, and is open Wednesday through Sunday. For more information and shop hours, visit Sabah online.
A Century of Healthfulness
John Gaw Meem's Journey to the Southwest
It was the spring of 1920 when 25-year old John Gaw Meem IV headed west from New York City. His destination: the Sunmount Sanatorium in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Like many others in the early 20th century, Meem had contracted tuberculosis and been advised by his doctors to recover at a sanatorium in the arid southwest. In a moment of serendipity shortly thereafter, Meem noticed a poster for the Santa Fe Railway and decided on the spot to move to New Mexico for his recovery.

History Spotlight: Ruth Hanna McCormick
A peek into Los Poblanos history
Before marrying Albert Simms and building Los Poblanos Ranch in the early 1930s, Ruth Hanna McCormick had established herself as a nationally-known leader in the women's suffrage movement. Following the first wave of the movement in the mid-19th century (led by activists Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton), Ruth and her colleagues picked up the cause in the 1910s. As a young mother and staunch believer in progressive reform, Ruth realized that women needed to vote in order to legislate change. She was particularly concerned with improving matters of public health, working conditions and childcare. As Kristie Miller writes in her biography of Ruth, "with her developing skills as a charismatic political leader, [Ruth] was in the forefront of the fight on the ballot."
Introducing refills for our Lavender Sanitizer Collection
With a mission dedicated to sustainability and historic preservation, we say Los Poblanos is "rooted in history, planting seeds for the future." Finding a way to create refill options for our product line has always been important to us, and we are thrilled to launch our refill program with our essential sanitizer collection. To minimize single-use plastic waste, keep our refill options on hand and keep clean no matter where the day takes you.
The ultimate staycation
Get away for the ultimate summer staycation with a trip to the farm. Spend slow days exploring the property, playing lawn games and relaxing on the patio with an artisan cocktail. Bring along your little farmers, who will enjoy exploring the neighborhood on cruiser bicycles, making s'mores around the chiminea and building forts in the bunk rooms of our Family Suites. To reserve, simply call our reservations team at 505-344-9297. With plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the fresh air, Los Poblanos is a summer destination like no other.
Beekeeping on the farm
A rich agricultural history
Our farm has been a site of rich agricultural activity since the very beginning. In the 1930s and 1940s, Los Poblanos was a model experimental farm that grew sugar beets, alfalfa, oats, corn and barley. The farm boasted one of the finest purebred herds of Guernsey and Holstein cows, and purebred rams were raised with the intention of helping sheep herders in the state improve their flocks. The historic greenhouse was used as a laboratory for growing new varieties of roses and chrysanthemums commercially.
